Cogent worked closely with Weyerhaeuser and Siempelkamp to successfully modernize and install a new multi-open press at the Grayling, Michigan plant. Cogent’s scope was to provide electrical and overall system integration between the new press and existing systems. This included the design of a new electrical room, PLC Panels, motion VFD panels, along with the integration of the new Press HMI into existing plant wide HMI, Historian Integration, Recipe Systems, PLC programming and Networking.
The Grayling facility opened in 1982 as Weyerhaeuser’s first OSB mill—at that time, one of only a few in North America. Today, over 100 employees work with local suppliers and contractors to produce high-quality and OSB sheathing to help builders and remodelers construct high performance homes. All output from the mill is sustainably produced and SFI®-certified.
The press Cogent helped replace was the original press from thirty years ago when the facility first opened.
